I don't like to compare myself with other teachers. I would rather like to stress that my main interest as a teacher is revealing to a student the joy that comes from playing saxophone and the ways in which she or he can learn from my guidance how to teach themselves and thus continue to improve throughout their lives.
Helping others discover the wonders of music and the great sense of well being that comes from playing music well.

Zan has a very professional and methodic style of teaching that has given me a strong foundation in Jazz Improvisation. The result is that I have greatly improved over the past year that I received instruction from Zan. He provides clear and concise verbal and written instructions and always arrives onetime. What is most important is his positive "can do" attitude which is extremely motivating. I would strongly recommend Zan for all levels of Jazz instruction

I am a professional musician and music teacher, and when I decided to learn a little saxophone for a project I went on Thumbtack and quickly found Zan. He's a great teacher: he could see exactly what knowledge I would need to have in order to really get started on the instrument, and he conveyed it to me in a direct and warm way, getting me well set up for success with the sax. In addition he is very friendly and fun to work with. As a colleague, I can tell that he must be a great teacher with people of all skill levels and ages. I am looking forward to working with him more as I need further lessons!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a daily practicer, putting in up to six hours a day on my craft. I am always striving to improve. Music is huge; I pay it respect by endeavoring to become the best musician I can be. I have had the good fortune to study with many wonderful teachers in both the jazz and classical fields; this has deeply broadened my understanding of music and my capacity to play it and teach it.
