Introduction: My hours Tu-Sat ORANGE COUNTY: Evenings starting @7p+ Sun. & Mon RIVERSIDE: OPEN AVAILABILITY but by appt. only Hi, my name is Kevin Mai and I’m the owner at The Human Body Shop. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer & Massage Therapist and my specialization is in pain, posture, and performance. My passion is in helping you achieve optimal alignment and function within your body. My philosophy when it comes down to how I approach my work is being able to accurately identify and address any musculosekeletal imbalances, postural deviations, and adhesions ("knots") that are contributing to the constant tension/reoccurring conditions that you feel in your body. Because of my PT background, I strongly believe it’s necessary to balance and strengthen the body in this new position to solidify the changes we’ve made in our sessions. Therefore, I offer a series of postural assessments, corrective exercises, guided stretching and mobilization protocols as an additional service. Here’s a complete list of the modalities I use and services I offer: **Trigger Point Therapy **Deep Tissue **Guided Stretch and Mobilization **Corrective Exercise **Postural and Movement Assessments $80 for a 60-minute Musculoskeletal Alignment Session. -60 minutes of customized bodywork. $120 for a 90-minute Musculoskeletal Alignment Integration Session. -90 minutes of customized bodywork or -60mins of body work + 30 minutes of guided stretching & corrective exercise. Please note this is NOT your general relaxation massage. I incorporate massage techniques, but I mainly use Trigger Point Therapy and Deep Tissue techniques. My focus is on releasing muscle tension, knots and restoring balance to your musculoskeletal system. I want to get to the root of your problem, not put you to sleep. And sometimes this can be a little bit uncomfortable–even painful (hurt so good)–but I promise you in the days to come you'll feel amazing :)

I have enjoyed working with Kevin. He is very professional and listening to the client on what areas requires work. The massages have been timely to work out occasional knots and muscles issues. I recommend him highly. R Walker

Very knowledgeable. Takes time to explain services and information. Massage was on point, knew exact points of tension. Would definitely recommend!!

Massage Therapy

Kevin was excellent at finding areas of tight muscles and knots. He worked through everything relieving some aches and pains I wasn’t completely aware of. He took the time to suggest some stretches and proper form for exercises to avoid aggravating my knees while working out. His location was very convenient to the freeway and tastefully decorated.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer a special pain, posture, and performance package that saves you money and offers you a complete treatment experience rather than if you were to book me by individual sessions. The protocol is as follows: 4 Sessions for $400 1st Session - 2 hrs (30 minute postural assessment, 60 mins of bodywork, 30 mins of guided stretching/corrective exercise) 2nd Session - 90 mins (60 mins of bodywork, 30 mins of posture alignment) 3rd Session - 90 mins (60 mins of bodywork, 30 mins of posture alignment) 4th Session - 2 hrs (60 mins of body work, 30 mins of posture alignment, 30 mins of re-assessment). The amount of work totals to 7 hours. You're saving $160, future trips to other health practitioners, improving your body's flexibility and mobility, and increasing overall mental and emotional well being. How much better can that get? ;)

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

The two individuals who have influenced my work the most are Paul Chek, the founder of the C.H.E.K. institute (Corrective Holistic Exercises Kinesiology) and Naudi Aguilar, the founder of Functional Patterns. I'm continuing my self-education w/ Dr. Laura Perry's Clinical Trigger Point Therapy Course and will be pursuing Erik Dalton's Master Myoskeletal Therapist certification as soon as I can. I'm always striving to improve my knowledge for true optimization of the mind and body. I spend the rest of my time learning about holistic health, spirituality, and personal development.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always test the practitioners knowledge of the body. Ask them a lot of questions regarding your condition and what may be causing the issue. If you intuitively feel they can't help you within the first two sessions, stop going.
