We had a great first lesson this week! My kids said they had never had so much fun in a piano lesson. It’s so refreshing to see them learning in a child-friendly way, using games and iPads alongside traditional methods.
Details: 6 - 9 years old • Yes, the student can read music • 2 - 4 yrs of formal training • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has a keyboard • 60 minutes • My home, venue, etc.

My social organization was having a 25th anniversary and we wanted a solo musician to liven up the event. Prowess performed the perfect blend of classical and contemporary music that fit exceedingly well with our overall program. She is very friendly and worked well with our suggestions. I'm so impressed with Prowess Rayna! She is extremely generous with her time, always giving my niece (her student) the best instruction and inspiration. I was fortunate to find a teacher for an advanced piano student who could connect so well with her. Prowess came to our house and did piano lessons for my family. She is very professional, always showed up on time and she smiles a lot. She is a very joyful and pleasant person. As theory goes with classical music, she is good about using stepping blocks and making sure you understand one concept before moving on to another. She taught me and my daughter so she is great at teaching adults and children, and knows how to approach teaching for all ages. I am genuine in saying that Prowess is gem of a piano teacher. I highly recommend her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
DISCOUNT: My first lesson is free!
My standard rate is $60 per hour and $45 for 45 minutes.
I add $10 travel fee for in-home visits. (Does not apply to online lessons.)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first concern is to determine a new student's skill level (musically & technically), goals, dreams, learning style, practice habits & musical taste.
* For students without a piano or keyboards, I enjoy helping people find/buy the perfect keyboard at a good price, used or new.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a life-long learner, I keep up my studies and continue learning about teaching including the latest developments around teaching piano.
My education includes:
- Many years of private piano lessons since age 3
- Elementary School music classes
- Piano Performance Major at UCSB & UCLA
- Various music classes, workshops, lectures on a variety of topics pertaining to music.
