FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The price varies for an indoor event or an outdoor event. Wedding ceremonies are a package that includes everything you need, regardless of the length of your ceremony (Catholic Masses excepted). Background music is an hour minimum. I don’t charge an extra fee to learn a new song if I can find music for it. I do have a travel charge outside the Sacramento area.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of the American Harp Society and receive their journal to stay up to date in the field of the harp. I also attend conferences and workshops. In the are of weddings, I stay up to date on trends through social media and forums. I constantly add music to my repertoire and am aware of popular music that brides are requesting.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common type of job that is requested of a freelance harpist is to perform for a wedding ceremony. This includes the beautiful music that draws the guests to their seats, welcomes the attendants and announces the arrival of the bride. Every ceremony is unique and harp music can play a large role or a minimal role during the actual ceremony, but it always culminates in the joyful recessional as the couple begins their new life together. Another common job is that of background music. Harp music is an excellent choice for cocktail hours, small parties and get-togethers, or large dinners. I have performed background music during dinner at restaurants, fund raisers, and corporate events. A third common job is a special music request for a performance in a concert setting. This can include solo performance, harp and flute duo performance, or orchestral performance.
