Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A. Formerly with the Law Offices of Melvin Belli, San Francisco's King of Torts, the most famous Trial attorney who originated the use of demonstrative evidence in the court room. Extensive training in complex litigation and making new law for our people.
Q. Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
A. We accept cases on a contingency which means our fees are paid out of the settlement proceeds or judgment after trial. For business law, entertainment law, and some real estate cases/probate we charge $250 per hour. We will let you know when you contact us.
Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?
A. I originally worked in the music industry preparing contracts, my grandmother was an attorney so it made sense to go to law school and practice law. Working for Melvin Belli was a lot like the entertainment industry, TV reporters were always coming to our office for interviews on high profile cases. The Belli building was an old Barbary Coast building built on floating docks in the basement. In the 1800's Montgomery street was a long dock at the edge of the Bay. Our office decor was red carpets, Victorian velvet wallpaper and crystal chandeliers. We were on the tour bus route and Mel's office was on the first floor with big windows to the street so the tourists could watch him at his desk. If they were lucky, he would look up and wave.
Q. What types of customers have you worked with?
A. We are proud of our opportunity to obtain justice for our clients. We recover money for our clients who have suffered a personal injury due to an auto accident, wage and hour violations or retaliation or harassment at work. Sexual harassment or assault. Probate litigation. Real estate, business law and litigation.
Q. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A. We recovered 4 years of overtime wages as well all penalties for employees without the need to file litigation. In another case we recovered a large monetary early settlement without litigation for a group of women who were sexually harassed at work and then retaliated against for complaining. Litigation can take years to get to trial so an early settlement accomplishes justice quickly and puts well deserved money in the pockets of our clients. Most of our personal injury and auto accident cases settle at the time medical treatment is completed or a permanent injury is diagnosed. Our wrongful death heirs recover the maximum available policy limits from all possible sources.
Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A. Find an attorney who cares about their clients and makes themselves available by cell phone, text and email. Clients complain to me that with other law firms they never talk to the attorney, only the assistant and they can't get answers to their questions about status and the process. The first thing our office does is to inform the new client about the treatment and settlement process.
Q. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A. If its a contingency case, Who will you recover money from? Do they have insurance? If not are they wealthy? What do you expect an attorney to do for you? What outcome would you like to see?
