FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do continuing education credits for my ACE personal trainer certification as well as personally study yoga. I also self teach on holistic methods like Touch for Health, Chinese Face reading, Sports Massage and more.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was born into it. :-) Even as a child I was aware of health and it's importance. I was heavily involved in top level sports while in high school which forced me to know a lot about nutrition, overtraining and body support. I coached US Swimming before leaving for the military. There I was a physical fitness leader and counselor. I ensured our best were performing at their best. In my personal life I was body building and then later moved onto triathlons. Learning a great deal as I went. I moved on and became a swim coach for members of the All Marine Triathlon Team as well as the high school. Somewhere in there I got my ACE personal trainer certification (American Council on Exercise). I moved to San Diego, a mecca for holistic health and yoga, where I went back to school to be a Holistic Health Practitioner. I learned Eastern modalities, body work and trained as a yoga instructor. By this time, my personal yoga practice had evolved and I was teaching classes of jana yoga and karma yoga. If it isn't apparent, I love what I do. I would love to support you on your path.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure the person you hire is in line with your goals. This business is very personal and there is not one person for everyone. Sometimes these relationships last longer and are closer than that with our partners. Choose someone with as much carefulness as you would a personal partner.
