Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I teach artists important foundational drawing and painting skills, visual problem solving, identifying obstacles and strategies for breaking through them, time management and professional business practices. I have online portrait classes at drawjuice dot com. You can download lessons only for self study, or you can combine the lessons with mentoring from me online via Skype. I get a thrill out of helping others to dream and move beyond what they thought they could achieve as artists by sharing my personal life experience and professional best practices I have learned along the way as an illustrator, animator and concept artist in the field.

Drawing Lessons

I learned a lot about learning how to draw from Chris. Nice pleasant guy to work with.

Chris is an excellent instructor, and learned a significant amount of information from him. His knowledge of the human anatomy is like no other; reminiscent of the masters from the old days, to more modern arts of today.

I really enjoyed having Chris as my figure drawing professsor and later my wedding photographer. His classroom was always welcoming, he treated us with respect and helped us learn a lot. I would definitely be up to taking another one of his classes or working with him.

Christ is awesome at explaining concepts of figure drawing! It was very easy to understand and whenever I had a question he's willing to answer/help!

Chris was a very approachable teacher, which can be hard to find. Chris pushed me outside my comfort zone, and taught me new techniques I still use professionally. I was pretty set with my process; Chris taught me a new approach that saved me time and effort without sacrificing quality. It was always clear that if you really wanted to learn, he really wanted to teach you.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I usually have a written agreement in place before we start the lessons so that both parties are clear what to expect. My price structure is based on packages that start at 10 lessons, 20 lessons and beyond if the student wants to study longer. The more courses purchased the price goes down.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically I do an intake and find out what the customer's needs are– what they most want to learn. I will have them do a drawing for me, usually in pencil of a human face or something they have interest in, for approximately an hour so I can find out where they currently stand with their drawing skill set. This step is really important as it helps me target and focus a curriculum that is best suited for the individual.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received my Bachelors degree in Illustration from San Jose State University. I have worked in animation and games since 1993 as an animator, director, storyboard artist and concept artist. I have taught and lectured on drawing, figure drawing, portraiture and concept art both here in the States and abroad in China.
