I have been drawing cartoon portraits at all kinds of events for over 35 years in San Diego with my team of friendly professional artists, “Draw the Crowd.” We draw “cartoon portraits” because we aspire to bring out the best in each person we draw for a fun & flattering keepsake your guests will treasure. “Draw the Crowd” aims to be the best, focusing on getting a great likeness, while creating memories and smiles. We have a 2 hour minimum for all creative services and don’t charge per drawing to guests. The host pays our hourly rates so they are complimentary for guests. My bachelor’s degree is in Visual Art from UCSD in 1994. I am a proud member of the International Society of Caricature Artists, for over 25 years, where I go the annual caricature conventions and learn from the best in the biz to continually to grow and develop my craft to be the very best I can be.

If you need an extra entertainer for your crowd we highly recommend Andrea for your event.
Andrea truly impressed us with her drawings of our guest. Everyone wanted an opportunity. We had guest from 6 years to 66 years old.
Andrea is kind, works great while working and the drawings were very impressive. We kept her much longer than what we booked for. She had no problem staying to make sure everyone got a chance to be drawn. We highly recommend her and will rehire her again for further events.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Andrea Walsh while organizing the Harvest Festival at my daughter’s elementary school this year. Not only is Andrea a talented caricature artist, but she is a dream to work with!
We had a live act booked for our Harvest Festival that had cancelled on me. Another parent suggested contacting a caricature artist and provided Andrea’s Instagram profile. I had a lot of questions for Andrea prior to booking her and after booking her for the event. She was patient, prompt, polite and responsive to all the emails, texts and Instagram messages I sent her. Planning and organizing school wide events can be stressful, so it's great to work with individuals who alleviate the stress associated with planning!
Andrea and her colleague both arrived early before the event started to set up their station. Similar to our email, text, and Instagram messages, Andrea was polite and professional with the attending parents, students and me.
Andrea and her colleague were a huge hit during the entire event. They were such a big hit that we hired them both for an additional 30 minutes post the event to finish up the line of kids waiting to have their faces drawn! I cannot wait to book Andrea for our Harvest Festival next year!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We have a two hour minimum for events. Mileage is added for events outside of San Diego county. Discounts for military and charity events.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out as much as possible about the event and how I can help create a successful event with the appropriate type of drawings and the right amount of artists for each client’s event needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got an Associate of Arts degree in Fine Art at Glendale College in 1986 and continued to pursue my education at UCSD, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art, in 1994, with an emphasis on Studio Art. Minors in Scientific Perspectives and Sociology. Having a Liberal Arts education, I know a lot about art and a little about a lot of things so I’m well rounded!
