I've spent the last 10+ years photographing and filming everything from corporate brand campaigns to backyard family sessions — engagements, weddings, headshots, portraits, and video are all part of the regular mix.
Before this, I worked inside the marketing and advertising world, which is exactly why brands and small businesses come to me for commercial work: I understand what story an image needs to tell once it leaves the camera, not just how it should look.
For couples and families, the approach is similar: what story are we telling or celebrating? I spend real time understanding what you want before we ever start shooting, so the session feels easy instead of staged. Jared was a blast to work with! Not only was he very responsive prior to the day of the shoot, he took the time to understand what I wanted and cared to bring my vision of a maternity shoot to life. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's flexible to a degree, but completely fair.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer to start with an initial consultation with my clients to suss out what the parameters for the project are, what sort of goals they have in mind, and set the proper expectations for all parties involved. This is typically the most tedious part, but once finished it makes the actual shoot a breeze and allows everyone to relax and have some fun.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Marketing. Through these degrees, I was able to understand how to tell a story and illicit responses. This sort of training carries over quite perfectly to photography.
