Joel at City Handyman went above and beyond! I ordered a ceiling lamp that turned out to be way too heavy for our condo's ceiling. Joel tried everything in his power to safely install it, displaying incredible patience, kindness, and work ethic throughout the entire process. He was so fair and wouldn't even let me pay the full two hours since the original lamp couldn't be installed.

When I returned the lamp, I messaged Joel with a few alternative options. He responded right away, offered great feedback, and helped me pick out the right one. charged by hour. 1.5 hr job took and charged 3 times more.
adding 3 flat recessed lights with holes already opened, and removed 3 exiting 6" cans and patched 1 can opening. All together took 4.5 hrs.

Hi Victor, I want to clarify the details here. I did not charge $500 to $1,000 for this job, your total was $503.70. I was upfront from the start about my rate of $115/hr with a 2 hour minimum, and billed accordingly. The scope went well beyond installing 3 lights into existing holes. It included: - going into the attic to remove the 3 existing 6" cans, - notching a beam to fit the new fixture - wiring all 3 recessed lights - cutting the 3 dry wall patches - application and mudding of the first patch (at which point you chose to end the job) That work ran from 9:00 AM to 1:23 PM, which is where the time and total came from. The items listed would unfortunately not take anybody at any level 1.5hrs. I'd also note that even though the original phone estimate was given before I had seen the site, so it couldn't account for what the attic access and can removal actually required once I was there. Despite being on schedule and being under the full day estimate, you made the call to stop the job at that point, which was your choice to make. Happy to go through the full breakdown of hours and tasks anytime! :)
