Introduction: Currently accepting new students for summer and fall 2023! *Note regarding COVID-19: Colleen is fully vaccinated and boosted and has resumed in person lessons at her home studio in Santa Clara. Her studio has a separate entrance and is fully sanitized after each lesson. Colleen also continues to teach lessons online for long distance students or those who prefer online classes* Colleen earned her Master of Music in flute performance from the Boston Conservatory. She has performed with the Fresno Philharmonic, Greece Symphony, MIT Freelance orchestra and was an emerging artist fellow with Chamber Music Silicon Valley from 2018-2020. In addition she has performed as a freelance flutist with Sarah Brightman, Il Volo, and Il Divo. She is passionate about teaching and performing, and works hard to create individualized lesson plans for each student that will optimize their musical advancement while still making music fun! 🎶

She is excellent in motivating the kids to do better. Her work ethics develop interest and makes them fall in love with the instrument. I would highly recommend her for the lesson.

My daughter had her first lesson with Colleen and I am impressed with her friendliness and professionalism. I believe my daughter will improve her skill with Colleen’s guidance. She will be taking more classes with Colleen on regular bases. I only wish she is closer.

I started flute lessons with Colleen as an adult student and can't recommend her enough. Every suggestion she has given in my lessons has had immediate positive results for my playing - I have added an entire octave onto my range by the end of the third lesson with Colleen.She has been thoroughly professional and seems genuinely invested in my progress as a flautist.

Colleen always has an upbeat attitude and a smile. She graduated from The Boston Conservatory where she learned how to teach beginners all the way through college students. She can play all musical styles, but she is also is great at teaching others. She has a passion for the flute but she can also explain things very well. You'll love her a your teacher!

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve been playing flute for 18 years and working with flute students in private lessons and ensemble coachings for 10 years. My first student was the younger sibling of a childhood friend; I thoroughly enjoyed teaching her to play the flute and have maintained a private studio ever since. Seeing the progress of my students and the joy they get from music is so rewarding!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with children and adult students (my youngest student was 6 and the oldest was 84!) of all ability levels and have assisted students with audition preparation, Certificate of Merit (CM) testing and also with their own personal goals in music.
