I owned a piano store (Westside Keyboards) in Santa Monica for 18 years, where we were dealers for Baldwin, Kawai, Chickering, Samick, and other brands. I have tuned and rebuilt over 100's of pianos. Over the years I have been the official piano tuner/technician for Santa Monica College, El Camino College, Crossroads School, Culver City Schools, and many local churches. I needed someone to help tune a precious piano that belonged to my great-grandmother. It was old and terribly out of tune. James did not hesitate to come and work on it, brought his bag of goodies and tuned it beautifully! He even replaced a part or two and was friendly, fast and reasonably priced. He has decades of experience as a musician too, which helps his craft. I highly recommend him for any piano, new or old!

Westside Keyboards and Dr. James Smith specifically are an excellent piano tuning and piano repair service. Jim not only knows more about pianos than anyone I've ever met, but he is also an incredible all around musician with piano and organ performance skills, orchestra and choir conducting expertise, and perfect pitch to boot! Great piano tuner and technician, with reasonable prices and many years of experience. He is the person that other tuners contact when they need piano tuning or repair advice. He is as good as they come, and better! Additionally, he is very personable and has a great work ethic. I've been using his services for years!
