I attempted to hire this company for some interior door work. They came up with an unusual pay up front arrangement. It is illegal to charge a customer 75% of the job cost before the job is complete. As a precondition of starting the work, This company demanded 30% payment on the first day of the job followed by 75% the second day. The law allows 10% up front or $1000 maximum (depending on what is less). When I asked them to compromise, they accused me of not wanting to pay them at all, just like a “customer they had ten years ago”.
