About
"For the things of this world cannot be made known without a knowledge of mathematics. - Roger Bacon" I welcome students at all levels of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) topics. Whether it's basic math or advanced calculus, whether the feelings are confidence or disillusionment, whether past learning opportunities have been privileged or not. Learning is a right and blessing for all. I invite you to invite me into your learning world, challenges, styles, likes and dislikes. Come sit down with me and let's see how we together can bring new light into your understanding of the physical world. My greatest joys in life derive from imparting my knowledge and fascination to others. I have the cognitive knowledge in STEM areas to tutor them expertly and the emotional intelligence to hold students in the process of absorbing it (see "credentials" below). The focus can be on class learning, exam (SAT, ACT, etc) preparation, career learning needs or personal interest. Credentials: - Degrees: BS Electrical Engineering from UCSD; MS Applied Physics from CALTECH; MA Counseling Psychology from CIIS. - 10+ years of private tutoring experience in STEM and ESL areas - Primary expertise areas: Math (all levels), Physics (all levels), Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Technology Contracting details: - Base hourly rates: $30-$50 depending on topic level and commute distance. Payment by cash or check. - I have much availability on weekdays and weekends - afternoons especially. - The first 1 hour session is for trial of fit. If we don't match then the session is free (no questions asked). - I'll travel to you in the environs surrounding Santa Rosa (Sebastopol, Cotati). We can meet at your place or a library. Online sessions are also an option. Please reply now for contact info and scheduling. Happy Learning! The "ah ha" moments when students break through to higher levels of understanding.

Rex is very patient with my son and takes the time to understand his problems. He came up with a collaborative solution that we all agree on. My son's Math grade improves after two sessions. I would highly recommend him.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

First session is a trial session. If it's not a fit then no charge (no questions asked). The hourly rate can vary depending on topic level for tutoring and travel distance to our meeting location.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I obtained college degrees in Electrical Engineering (BS) and Applied Physics (MS). This education plus many years of teaching and tutoring have garnered effective teaching skills for me. In addition, I have earned an MA in counseling psychology driven by a deep curiosity and appreciation for the inner potential in all human beings.
