For over 15 years, the goal of Charles Taylor Interior Design has always been to combine all aspects of the client's needs and provide solutions under one roof. We will bring together the right elements to ensure that your vision is fully realized. Communication is the key to a great project, and we take pride in that part of the job. While we specialize in residential design, we have experience in commercial design projects as well, working on bars, restaurants and hotels (Top Chef John Tesar's Eateries, W Hotels, Nissan Design America, etc.). We can design all aspects of your project. From decorating to remodels, we can help you.
We offer full decorating services and can select everything for your home, from flooring, all the way to the final pillow being placed. We offer lighting plans, space plans, all materials selections, paint schemes...pretty much everything you need for your home remodel.

We asked Charles to help with the interiordesign of our home after seeing the kitchen/dining area of close friends who hired him as their designer. Charles listened to what we had in mind and used his artistic eye to elevate our concept to a new level. The quality of his work showed that he had years of experience and knew how to manage a project from conception to completion. We highly recommend Charles!

You can rely on him for all facets of your design and decorating. He can either create the entire vision or keep you on point with your own. We loved how he made suggestions that were outside of the box (some of which we incorporated) but was not in the least offended when we decided to stick to our own choices. We couldn't have done it with him!

Working with Charles on my residential home project (2600 sqft) has been a real pleasure. After a recent move and the inheritance of a lot more space, I felt I needed someone who could partner in a journey of designing for me and my family from a blank canvas. Charles quickly saw the potential in the home and its architecture and made excellent style, color, texture, and thematic choices. His vision was spot on, and after the first room was completed, I felt comfortable enough to let Charles run free reign on selection of materials and furnishings, and HE DEFINITELY DELIVERED!! the couches in all rooms are both high quality, fashionable and comfortable- something I thought would never happen. I feel like I've now got custom furniture in my home, but acquired at affordable pricing and pieces that I have not seen or sourced from anywhere else. Charles has a real knack for pulling off the blending of styles as I'm more of a mid-century modern kinda guy and my wife is way more contemporary. Charles is now my go-to oracle for living solutions, and I know i'll be fully enjoying my home for years and years to come.

I highly recommend Charles for any remodeling or design projects (large and small) you may want to undertake. Last fall I worked with Charles on some larger remodeling projects in my condo. He gave me a gorgeous new kitchen, beautiful flooring throughout, and gave both of my bathrooms sleek vanities and storage solutions. I am SO happy with the results. My kitchen is stunning, the flooring is modern and chic, and my bathrooms got a major upgrade. Initially, I made the mistake of thinking that I could manage a kitchen remodel on my own and I was so wrong. As soon as Charles came on board, he guided me through the entire process with professionalism and beautiful, lasting results that I have been thrilled with. I was most impressed by his ability to schedule all of the contractors within my time constraints. Charles is truly an expert at home design and works with talented and reliable contractors in San Diego. My only regret? Not hiring Charles soon enough as I would have saved a ton of time and $$$ had I had his help from the get-go. Next time I need any home improvements done, Charles will be my first point of contact. Charles helped me every step of the way to make my condominium a beautiful place. From designing a unique staircase to go up to a loft, to getting a couch, chairs, lamps and even artwork. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We work on all types of project large and small. We bill hourly at $150/hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typical process with new customers is to have a brief conversation on the phone to assess budget (if there is one), scope or to-do list and to just get an explanation of the project from the client's perspective. We can also answer questions as to how we work during the project, client expectations, billing, etc. The next step is to have an in-home visit to meet in person, to see the space and to determine if we are the right fit for the project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are a team that has a lot of combined experience working in the interior design field for 15 + years. We have experience in designing kitchens, bathrooms, full-home remodels...even simple decorating projects.
