Singing Lessons (for children or teenagers)
Elizabeth mixes a friendly attitude with serious musical instruction. My daughter enjoys her lessons very much and is growing under Elizabeth's care. Wonderful teacher!Aug 31, 2016Verified
I've been taking voice lessons with Liz for about two years and couldn't be happier with how far I've come as a singer! Liz is patient, engaging and very adept at refining weaknesses in my voice. When I first started as a complete novice, she focused on stabilizing my breathing and air control. As I improved, she helped me with vowel tones, consonant placements and extending my range in both directions. I remember being super excited the first day I realized I had a stable vibrato! We've worked on a very large range of repertoire ranging from Bach cantatas to Hamilton musical. Liz also often recommends relevant auditions in musicals/operas and worked with me to prepare my audition pieces. Since last year, I've performed in my first musical and G&S operetta! I highly recommend Liz for anyone looking to become a singer, improve their voice and/or just want to experience what's it like to resonate your body with a properly controlled voice!Dec 29, 2019VerifiedElizabeth Patterson, Soprano's reply
Thank you, Duc! You’ve done amazing work these past two years! Congratulations on your stage debuts! I can’t wait to see what you do next!
Our 13 year old daughter has absolutely loved her singing lessons with Liz over the past year! Liz is consistently bright and positive while advancing our daughter's singing abilities on many levels. We also enjoyed seeing Liz perform in a bilingual musical play for children. We attended with parents, and kids from ages 7 to 17, and we all loved the experience and Liz's impressive singing and acting. Great job, Liz!May 11, 2017
Liz has been working with my son for several months as his signing coach. She strikes the right balance between making it fun and helping him progress in his goals. He has seen improvement in both his voice control and his mastery and is more and more confident in his bigger musical roles. Liz provides a good eduction, allows the student control but also has expectations of their capabilities. They learn and have fun!May 3, 2017

Thank you for such a nice review, Fred!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing at my South San Francisco studio location is $40/30, $50/45, and $65/60 minutes. Some students pay at each lesson, and some prefer to buy in sets of 2, 4, or 5. However you prefer is fine! I provide receipts/invoices for students who request them.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I approach every new student as an individual. I like to talk to the student first about their goals and previous music training, before we do any work together. In the first lesson, I quickly assess the personality of the singer as a guide to structure their lesson. Some singers will immediately feel comfortable singing new exercises in front of a total stranger, but most singers need time to get comfortable. I adjust to the comfort level of that student. I will often begin the warm up with breathing exercises and muscle relaxation techniques, while the student gets comfortable. Next, I assess the range and color of the voice, as well as its strengths and weaknesses. I let the student know what I hear throughout the process, so they know exactly where their voice is starting from. I try to give a very balanced assessment of everything, good and bad.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I often work with students who are preparing for an audition, performance, or for college music auditions. I also work with students who enjoy singing as a hobby. Many of my students play in bands and would like to explore singing as well.
