Introduction

(ONLINE lessons ONLY. Please don't message me to ask if I do in person lessons or not. ) Thank you very much for your interest in my Japanese language lessons. I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, living in Los Angeles since 2017, and graduated from the literature department of Waseda University. I have taught for more than four years and have about 3000 hours of teaching experience. I have taught students from 6 years old to over 60 in the US or Canada from beginner to advanced. I have a good time with every student through classes and I also have learned a lot from students. I listen to you as carefully as possible to make the lesson meaningful. I try to listen and understand what my student is interested in and which direction she/he wants to go. I always try to make my lessons fun and informative at the same time. There are some students with autism or ADHD, I do my best for them though I am not a specialist in that field. I enjoy meeting new people and love to talk about Japanese culture, especially movies (Ghibli!), TV shows (Shogun!), music (City Pop!), food (Ramen!) and tourism (I'm from Tokyo!). There are some students from the entertainment industry as actors, band members of world-famous top 40 artists, and film composers who have a business relationship with companies in Japan. Lessons are online only.

I have been studying Japanese on and off for years - I got my 300 day Duolingo streak, I got the Genki textbook, but could never figure out a good place to really start diving into conversation with either other learners or with a native speaker. In the short time I spent with Akira, I already feel like I've learned so much! I've already been spreading the word of how pleasant he has been to work with and I plan to keep doing so! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ He agreed to work with me with just 24 hours notice and was willing to schedule around my full-time work and school. Akira has been exceptionally professional, communicative and friendly. Our son will be taking Japanese as a high schooler next year and so he is getting a jump start with lessons this summer. 🌟Lesson Fee (online via Zoom) $55/60min and application monthly 4 lessons up-front for $200 ($20discount) $45/45min and application monthly 4 lessons in advance for $165($15discount) 🌟Please keep in mind 24h Cancellation Policy: In case of cancellation or rescheduling, please let me know no later than 24h before lessons. Otherwise the lesson fee is fully charged.

I use GENKI for text book. This is the most poplar one in the US.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the literature department of Waseda University in Tokyo Japan. I worked as an international telephone operator , interpreter for a telecom company for years.
