Introduction
I offer services in film, video, and music production. I have a successful track record as a film and music producer and audio specialist, working as an independent contractor and also for a PBS television station. As a documentary filmmaker, one of my more recognized pieces is on the history of the roller derby, a sport in which my parents were the original skating stars. I recently filmed and produced Brazilian Adventure for MTV Brazil, which features deep jungle experiences in many parts of South America. Alongside my film-making career, I have worked as a music recording artist and independent record label president and producer. My musical career has provided me with the opportunity to film hundreds of hours of behind-the-scenes moments of the music business, telling the story of the recording process for both major and independent record companies. I am presently producing and directing The Back Road Boys In Comedy, a series of comedy skits targeted for airing on a Chicago cable station. My professional experience: * Music producer/videographer - Los Angeles, CA - 1995 to present Upon arrival in Los Angeles, I began scoring feature film soundtracks, recording and producing music for television commercials. I later took a position at Film Row, a television commercial production company whose clients include Ford, Budweiser and White Castle. I served Film Row as a casting videographer, location scout, still photographer and on-location talent advisor. Highlights: - own video, audio and editing equipment for use in contracting services - filmed more than 100 interviews of former Roller Derby skating stars - created The Guy Cooking Show with the owner of Film Row - worked on White Castle TV commercials; wrote and recorded its theme music - composed and recorded a featured song for the Stephen King film Sometimes They Come Back - placed more than 30 original songs with pay-per-view television programs - spent four years in South America chronicling indigenous cultures on camera * The Star Theater - Merrillville, IN - 1987-1995 audio engineer, manager of stage sound and production I was an engineer of either the front-of-house sound or monitor sound for numerous major musical and stage acts for the 3,400-seat theater, often delivering 12-16 different sound mixes, for individual band members or actors on stage. I simultaneously managed 20-30 stagehands, and coordinated the design and construction of stage settings. Highlights: - provided professional standard sound for up to 180 shows per year - designed and constructed staging for Ann Margaret’s tour, which featured a grand piano on a retractable, motorized track - designed and constructed a sound-proof, mobile booth for a 35mm movie projector on the theater’s main floor - worked as electrician on music video shoots and documentaries, including The Charlie Daniels Band “Live” - functioned as stage manager for large theatrical productions, including Cats and The Nutcracker * Public Television Channel 56 - Merrillville, IN - 1992-1995 audio engineer, studio and field camera operator I worked part-time as an audio engineer for several PBS television shows, including Talk Baseball with Ron Kittle, and composed and recorded the program’s theme music. I also operated the camera for on-location news and daily stories, and also calibrated and manned a studio camera. Highlights: - helped coordinate pledge drives to fund the station’s operating costs - directed musical events at Gary, Indiana’s 4,000-seat Genesis Convention Center - developed local spotlight programming about rising stars in the community * Central Recording Studio - Portage, IN - 1984-1995 president, producer As owner/operator of Central Recording Studio, I established a stable of musicians and bands, from rock to gospel, producing more than 75 record albums.
