I had a good feeling from the first meeting because the owner is very hands-on. He’s actually involved in the work and knows what’s happening on site, rather than just selling the job and then handing everything over to someone else.

Our courtyard is only about 15 x 15, but the access made the job pretty difficult. It’s in the middle of the property and the only way in and out is through the house, so all of the old concrete had to be broken up and carried out that way, and everything for the new concrete had to come back through the same route.

The main reason we did the project was to sort out the drainage and stop the courtyard from flooding. We had an idea of what we wanted, but he made a few suggestions as the job went along that made the end result better than what we had originally planned.

The finished courtyard came out excellent, especially considering how awkward the access was and how much work was involved.
