Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and member of the APDT. I have over 6 years of working with canines on a professional level and a lifelong passion of animal care and well being. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and go the extra mile to help my clients and puppies have the most positive training experience! My goal is to educate the owner on management and solutions so they have the tools to not only solve current behavior issues but learn to identify and correct future ones as well. I teach the dogs the skills, but it’s the owners I train. The basis of my training is focused on strengthening and protecting the special bond between owner and canine. By using positive reinforcement I will show you how to gain interest and trust from your dog no matter the age, breed or temperament. Skills: Obedience, manners, crate/housebreaking, puppy management, leash walking (heel), body handling, snake awareness, therapy/service, problematic behaviors, Fear/Aggression, and socialization and more... Training plans include a free initial phone consult, the Barking Bad skills and instruction book, instructional articles, handouts and videos, on call emergencies, and an individually tailored training plan. Kat is an incredible dog trainer. She helped us with basic obedience for our two pups and uses classic training techniques to achieve positive responses from our dogs. She helped us out so much and was very kind to our pups. Definitely worth working with her!

I can’t say enough good things about Kat. She did some work with my parents crazy sheepdog (Daisy). Just after the first visit I couldn’t believe that it was the same dog. When my parents would try and relax in front of the tv Daisy would become jealous of the attention they were giving the tv. She would bark at shadows on the ceiling, on the floor, whatever it took to get there attention shifted off the tv and back to Daisy. It was crazy! Now when the watch tv she goes and lays down on her dog bed in the same room. I think Kat just has a way with animals. She is probably the most caring person I’ve ever met. My parents are so grateful to have a normal evenings without all the barking. I don’t have any dogs of my own right now but when I do, I’ll be calling Kat.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet with my clients (human and dog) with an evaluation that is 2 hours long. I observe the behavior of the dog and answer any questions or concerns from the owner. Then I develop a customized training/behavior plan included with handouts and video links if needed. Developing a management plan during training is essential for success on any level. After the evaluation, follow up sessions are one hour and are determined based on the needs of the client. I also offer free follow up phone consults after training is completed to ensure my doggo owners are confident and competent with continues training.
