Mark D. Dunnett is an award-winning film composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. With credits spanning more than 70 films—including over 30 feature films—his work has been featured on major platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, AMC, and Amazon/MGM.
A dedicated father and active composer, Mark is also an experienced instructor specializing in composition, orchestration, guitar, piano, and ukulele. He offers personalized, engaging lessons tailored to students of all ages (5 to adult) and abilities, including those with special needs. Many of his students study with him for 3–4 years or longer, pursuing music as a career, lifelong hobby, or therapeutic outlet. Mark prioritizes enjoyment while building strong foundations in ear training, music theory, and technical proficiency to foster genuine musicality.
“I focus on teaching the instrument in a fun, approachable way—particularly with younger students—while cultivating deeper musical understanding through ear training, theory, and the technical elements that define great music. Fun is the most effective path to lasting learning.”
Mark began his formal training with classical theory and piano studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music, followed by a B.A. in Film Scoring and Composition from Berklee College of Music, where he was mentored by renowned composer John Bavicchi. He was also recognized in Guitar World Magazine’s “Hometown Heroes” column for his guitar work.
In 2025, Mark earned five festival awards for his original score to the action/crime feature Escobank (distributed on Amazon/MGM), including Best Composer at the Paris Art & Film Awards (PAMAs) and Best Score at the Pisa Cinema Carnival International Film Festival in Italy. He also received the Work of Excellence Trophy at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival.
