Introduction
For 35 years and counting, I have taught all levels of English and all grades: from Homer to Sophocles, Beowulf to Frankenstein, the Romantics to the Moderns. I have taught American Literature, Modern Literature, Creative Writing and Shakespeare, in addition to Argument and Research, Introduction to Fiction, and Freshman Writing at the college level. Teaching critical thinking, close reading and analytical writing and building student confidence are my specialties.

Pam Felcher was my English teacher for three years in High School. Her understanding of the English language and the mechanics of literature shaped not only my writing but my ability to think critically while reading and, ultimately, in life. She is tough but fair, demands the best you can give but welcomes your thoughts and perspective, so long as they are well defended and insightful. I’ve never, even in college, been in a stronger seminar. If you work with Pam I can guarantee your writing and thinking muscles will never be stronger. I still use Pam’s tools, including her unmatched breakdown of the metaphor and literary devices, in my every day life both professionally and conversationally.

Pam is an amazing tutor whose guidance has made me the writer that I am today! She taught me how to write a clear, college-level academic essay so that I could ace my AP exams and classes.
