If you're looking for a good math tutor who is going to be able to explain things in a very basic level two people who do not understand math then Dan is your guy! I do not understand math at all whatsoever but Dan was able to break things down for me so I was able to understand it better.Jul 18, 2018Verified
Dan is a very helpful, concerned math, physics, chemistry, and ACT tutor. Whether its homework, test prep, or just review Dan always knew his stuff and was always ready to answer and help me with all of my subjects. I have aced many tests and felt much more prepared for the ACT because of him. I would recommend him for both one on one and group sessions for all grades in high school.May 5, 2015

Raising the Bar is a great company and very professional! It's helping my 7th grader a lot! It'd highly recommend it to anyone who's child needs tutoring.Feb 21, 2015Verified
Dan was referred to us by Red Rocks Community College where my daughter Emily was taking College Algebra. With Dan's help Emily passed her course and felt very empowered as a result. I highly recommend Dan for your tutoring needs!Mar 24, 2015
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We charge $40/hr for 1-1 tutoring. Skype, which is now a very popular and convenient option, is $35/hr. Skype is typically prepaid for at least 4 hours at a time, and the time used is deducted after every session. We always allow a free consultation to "try before you buy." This makes 5 hours cost $32/hr essentially.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I initially talk with the parent about the needs of their student over the phone. Based on my knowledge of my coaches' backgrounds, I reach out to the best-fit coach and set them up with the student. The coach visits the family and performs an initial, free consultation and assessment to verify that the match will work. Following the initial consultation and signing of a tutoring contract (no prepayment necessary except for Skype), the coach continues to meet with the student for as many sessions as deemed necessary. There can be cancellation at any time, but typically, students receive help for a full semester minimum.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Mathematics at the University of Northern Colorado. In May 2018, I recieved my Master's degree in Secondary Math Education. I teach 9th-12th grade math at an alternative high school in Nederland. Prior to starting Raising The Bar, I received all three levels of the CRLA Tutoring Certification. I often share the best teaching strategies to my staff so they can help students in the best ways possible.
