- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We charge $36/hr for 1-1 tutoring. Skype, which is now a very popular and convenient option, is $30/hr. Skype is typically prepaid for at least 4 hours at a time, and the time used is deducted after every session.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I initially talk with the parent about the needs of their student over the phone. Based on my knowledge of my coaches' backgrounds, I reach out to the best-fit coach and set them up with the student. The coach visits the family and performs an initial, free consultation and assessment to verify that the match will work. Following the initial consultation and signing of a tutoring contract (no prepayment necessary except for Skype), the coach continues to meet with the student for as many sessions as deemed necessary. There can be cancellation at any time, but typically, students receive help for a full semester minimum.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Secondary Math Education at the University of Colorado Denver. I teach 7th-12th grade math at a small school in Northeast Colorado. Prior to starting Raising The Bar, I received all three levels of the CRLA Tutoring Certification. I often share the best teaching strategies to my staff so they can help students in the best ways possible.
