FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates vary according to the complexity of the job. Clear audio, no accents, one or two people speaking (e.g., interviewer and interviewee), are the easiest to transcribe and therefore my rate is only $.40 per audio minute. Complex transcriptions (e.g., multiple speakers, background noise, speakers talking over each other, strong accents) take considerably longer and my rate for those is $1.00 per audio minute.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Interviews [investigations of alleged misconduct]; Presentations; Focus Group Meetings; Seminars/Speaker Forums.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently worked on several transcripts which involved interviews with people who had strong English accents. Additionally, they were using terms related to a certain religion that required a fair amount of internet research on my part in order to get correct spelling. It was a difficult and time consuming job, requiring repeated reviews of the file to make sure that I had transcribed the files accurately. I took a great deal of satisfaction in handing over the finished product.
