Introduction: Hello! I am happy to meet you! Here is a little about my training and specialties as an equestrian. I hope you find what you are looking for. I have been riding horses for about twelve years now. Most of the riding I do is western trail riding, though I also have dabbled in introductory English and contesting. I have ridden many different kinds of horses including all genders, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Arabians, POAs, Morgans, Tennessee Walkers, and Paints. These horses have had all kinds of personalities and specialties. My specialty is providing "bomb-proofing" lessons, working with the "higher-strung" horses, and preparing horses to be ridden after having some time off. My personal horses were a Thoroughbred gelding and an Arabian mare that I used for 4H, contesting, pleasure riding, and trail riding. I have helped lead students on trail riding excursions that included scaling mountains, crossing rivers, and traversing ravines. I was trained in trail riding by a great cowboy who has ridden rugged mountain trails his entire life. I even wrote an entire book on the basics of trail riding and how to have a successful, fun ride. I retrained a dominant Thoroughbred gelding to be a children's therapy horse, as well. I also taught riding lessons at very successful summer camp (Camp Tecumseh) last summer. My specialty in lessons is horsemanship and ground handling through cantering/loping for very novice through intermediate riders. I also provide horse and pet-sitting services. Owning my own horses for many years, working as a groom on a Thoroughbred breeding farm near Lexington, Kentucky, and horse-sitting for clients, I have learned that attention to detail, a good knowledge of equine care, and a genuine care for clients are paramount for clients being able to enjoy their time away from home. I have a lot of practical experience in the daily care of horses and will have a double Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Equine Science from Colorado State University in May 2015. I would love to help you enjoy your vacation or time away from home by providing quality care for your horses and other animals. So, if you want to make sure your horse is ready for warm weather riding after a winter off, if you would like beginner-intermediate lessons, or if you need someone to "pet-sit" your horse and/or other animals, please give me a call. I would be more than happy to assist you and your equine partner in achieving a great year of riding and working together! Please feel free to contact me for questions about my training methods, riding methods, lesson plans, and pet-care philosophies. I hope we can work together! Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Allyssa
