FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We offer Serivce Appointments at flat rate fees. Occasionally when jobs are a little more than basic/standard, we may need to charge at an hourly rate. Before spending any time for an hourly-rate type job, we discuss the fees before proceeding.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial Service Appointments (most of what we'll find through Thumbtack) are a longer appointment. usually 3-4 hours. During this appointment, we do a health inspection to make sure that your piano is serviceable. Not all of them are. We gather a little bit of background and history of the instrument, and get an idea of what you expect long term care to be. This appointment covers all of the tuning (especially pitch corrections if needed), basic repairs, and some cleaning, that we can do in that time. Basic repairs may include (but not limited to): Sticky keys, or keys that don't make sound Buzzes, rattles, clicks, etc. Pedals not functioning as expected We talk about cleaning, and general expected service over time, and set a baseline of what the piano will need going forward.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our technicians are all members of the Piano Technicians Guild, and attend events and meetings on a regular basis.
