Introduction: Hello friends! I am a wine-tasting host and wine educator certified as a level 2 professional by The Wine & Spirit Education Trust. I provide this unique service because it combines my two passions: wine and teaching. I am a dedicated school music teacher by day, and I enjoy spending much of my free time studying wine and traveling to wine regions. After a wine tasting journey through France with my wife, Anna, I started hosting private wine tastings for family and friends at the suggestion of my father-in-law. Unlike most wine professionals, my goal is not to sell you wine. I want to help you learn more about it. Therefore, my goal is to help you discover what you love and most importantly why you love it. I strive to create a non-judgmental and unpretentious atmosphere where people are free to ask any question they’ve ever had about wine and how to enjoy it to its fullest extent.

“What I like about John's wine tastings is you get both his knowledge about wine-- I really like to learn facts and details about how wine is made and characteristics of different wines-- and you also discover and explore each wine for yourself. John helps you put vocabulary and understanding to your experience. Now I can go into a wine shop and both know what I like and how to find it without just guessing like I did before. And now my friends are coming to me for wine recommendations, I like that almost as much as the wine! Thanks, John!”

John led a virtual wine club class on the Elements of Wine for a group of about 10 of us. He was engaging and well prepared and the class was creative and interactive. He’s the opposite of a wine snob and instead imparts plenty of knowledge in an approachable way that made the whole group feel like there truly are no dumb questions. I’d highly recommend him!
