Introduction: I copy edit, ghost write, and contribute content to both print and online publications.
For 15 years, I worked as a senior editor/writer for the quarterly magazine, Winds of Change, which focuses on career and educational opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) areas for Native Americans. I supervised contributing editors and interns, coordinated production schedules and worked closely with the graphic designer and copy editor. I handled and maintained our subscription database, organized all incoming articles, worked in collaboration with the marketing director so that articles corresponded with her efforts, communicated with artists on cover art, traveled annually to national conferences and to various colleges to obtain profiles for our annual college guide.
In tandem with my work at Winds of Change, I taught college application essay writing to Native high school students for the organization College Horizons by traveling to the sponsoring campuses including Stanford, Duke, Washington Uni., and St. John's in Santa Fe. In addition, I served on their advisory board for five years.
Customers react positively to my quick turnaround and appreciate my sensitivity to their project.
