FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons for children and teens are billed on a tuition basis September through May. Any lessons above those covered by tuition are billed on a lesson-by-lesson basis (such as summer lessons). Adult students pay by the lesson, as needed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We set up a short meeting, just to see if our personalities and philosophies are a good fit. I will ask some questions about previous experience, expectations, etc. Clients may ask questions regarding my training, fees, my expectations, special events, policies, etc. I will ask transfer students to play something for me so I can plan based on their current skills.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As mentioned above, I am an active member and President of the Pikes Peak Music Teachers Association in Colorado Springs, Colorado (ppmta.org); a member of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association (comusicteachers.net); as well as a member of Music Teachers National Association (mtna.org). These organizations provide monthly meetings and annual conferences for teachers as well as performance opportunities for students. I am also involved in the Music Development Program, a comprehensive, leveled testing program for students.
