- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My decorating services can begin with a $250 in-home or virtual Whole-Room Decorating & Space Planning Consultation. One of the biggest benefits of working with a decorator is making better purchasing decisions from the beginning. Instead of buying individual pieces and hoping they work together, I look at the room or home as a whole—layout, scale, function, furnishings and how everything relates to everything else. This can help clients avoid costly mistakes, unnecessary purchases, returns, and furniture that ultimately does not work in the space. I also have established relationships with a number of furniture and home-furnishing retailers and vendors, which may provide additional client savings on qualifying purchases. In some projects, the combination of smarter purchasing decisions and available client savings can offset a significant portion of the cost of professional decorating help. Additional services may include furniture and décor sourcing, shopping recommendations and continued decorating assistance depending on the scope of the project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We usually begin with an in-home or virtual decorating consultation. Before we meet, I learn a little about your home, your style, the rooms you want help with, what you already own and what is not working. During the consultation, we look at the space as a whole—furniture layout, flow, scale, existing furnishings, what may be missing, purchasing priorities and the overall look and feel you want to create. From there, we determine the best next steps. For some clients, the consultation provides the direction they need to move forward on their own. Others want continued help selecting and sourcing furniture, rugs, lighting, window treatments, artwork and accessories. The process is flexible and designed around how much help you want.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended art school and have more than 20 years of experience decorating, styling and staging residential spaces. Over the years, I have worked with everything from empty new homes needing complete furnishings to established homes where the client already owns pieces they love but needs help with layout, scale, selection and bringing everything together. My background in residential real estate also gives me a strong understanding of how people experience a home—how layout, proportion, function and presentation affect the way a space feels.
