Private Yoga Instruction

I had my first yoga lesson with Emily and just loved it. She was so professional, kind and encouraging. I love my time with Emily so much. Our time together is one of the best gifts I have ever given myself. Besides being a truly warm and loving young women, Emily is incredibly gifted at teaching yoga and assures you maintain correct pose alignment. This was very important to me as I had a couple of previous injuries that were the motivation for me to learn yoga and at the same time use it to recover. I like that we keep a pace that I need to because of my work schedule, yet at the same time we are always striving to gently keep challenging me. Besides the physical exercise of yoga she has also helped me with mental clarity and living calmly. My lessons encompass all areas of growth which include the physical, mental, and spiritual. I know it is good for me because whenever we end our lessons I feel better than before I started--almost elated! Finally, the lessons are easily thought out so I can practice what I learned on my own and Emily is always willing to answer questions when I don't understand something. If you are thinking about private lessons, Emily is the very best! You will love her and will love how wonderful her private instruction makes you feel!

Emily provided me with one-on-one yoga lessons in my home after I had sustained a back injury, as well as to help target trouble I was having with anxiety and mood. I was eager to start practicing yoga because of those issues and to help rebuild muscle and core strength, but my doctor advised me that I should have close and very knowledgeable supervision or I could worsen my injury, so I did some looking and found Emily. Her expertise and attention to detail was astounding - beyond astounding. Her knowledge about yoga and its history and was amazing. She paid very careful attention to my specific needs, and carefully tailored our practice to meet what my body and mind needed on that day. She also went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule. Yoga has become a daily part of my life, and I'm stronger (in both mind and body) than I have ever been in my life. The sessions I had with Emily were an integral part to getting where I am today. Although I only worked with her in a one-on-one context, her energy and presence, as well as her knowledge about yoga, lead me to believe she is also an excellent teacher in a class setting. I highly, highly recommend her.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    A one-on-one 60 minute session is $72. I also offer small group and discounted package rates. For more information please visit my website.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have over 2,000 training hours in yoga, dance, and martial arts. I received my Bachelor's degree in Yoga and 1000 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification from Naropa University in 2007. I've also served as a Yoga Program Consultant for studios and health clubs in New York and Colorado. I am currently working on my masters in Dance Education through the University of Northern Colorado.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

    One project that I am fond of was a private session in Manhattan. This person was struggling with addiction issues as well as ADHD and wanted to try yogic breathing. We went to a park by the river and went through a few basic mindfulness exercises and practiced the Full Yogic Breath. It was remarkable to observe the change that occurred in such a short period of time. Afterwards we talked about the heightened sense of awareness that we experienced (noticing the light and details of nature around us). I was especially pleased because I knew how hesitant this person was to try a new practice, but they met their resistance and accomplished their goal.
