FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For teaching, one-on-one, in person, I generally charge $100 per hour for office or home visits but phone call or remote sessions are $80 per hour. We can cover a lot of ground in a short time. If you are a student, a teacher or a senior (over 70 please), I offer a further 10% discount. ID is required. For website work, I base my project rates on $100 per hour. For small projects, I charge hourly, but for larger or ongoing projects, I usually charge a project fee, with a defined scope. Every project is different. Let's talk.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Let's get to know each other, find out if our work styles are compatible and see if our favorite colors match or clash (only slightly kidding...). I'm easy to work with, and take direction well (I write as much down as I can). That said, a phone conversation is always helpful in getting acquainted.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a firm believer in life-long learning. While my college degree is not in computer science, or graphics, or programming (nope, biology, emphasis on environmental biology and I started a master's degree in wildlife biology), I've spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars in furthering my education and learning more about my chosen career, both technology support and website development.
