About
When it comes to resolving structural issues I have the right experience that is hard to beat. I worked as a structural engineer for years performing structural analysis and design for houses, multi-story buildings, and other structures. I have built more than 65 custom-built houses in many styles and sizes up to 5,200 square feet. I have inspected more than 1500 houses in my career from small bungalows to 6,000 square foot mini-mansions. The houses ranged in age from 250 years old to brand new (where I still found a structural problem!). I have inspected houses all over Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and a few in Rhode Island. I have performed more than 250 construction progress inspections for a local bank, which gave me the opportunity to see many new homes in various stages of construction. I even served as an expert witness in a number of construction cases for several attorneys. My building experience provided me the opportunity to experience all the construction problems, choices, and decisions that builders face. I know how they think, the trade-offs they make, and the resulting good or poor quality construction. My structural engineering experience enables me to readily recognize structural deficiencies that others miss.
I have seen the best workmanship in houses and the absolute worst. I have developed that "6th sense" that enables me to identify a problem when there is little evidence of it. When performing an inspection I tell it like it is. I am not an alarmist.
When I inspect a house I enjoy the satisfaction I get when I give the buyer more information about the house than they ever wanted to know. When I find a serious defect in a house which my client was not aware of, I get a lot of satisfaction in advising my client of the problem.

He offered reasonable pricing, was able to inspect our basement to make sure it was structurally safe for sale to buyers with an fha loan. He was very responsive, worked with our need to get the job done fast, and was able to get the report to us very quickly. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a structuralengineer.

Rinaldi was thorough and patient during our walkthrough. He pointed out all areas of concern and gave suggestions on how to rectify the problem. He communicates well and is very attentive. I hired him to review the construction work done and what I plan to do moving forward.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I base my quote on the size and age of the house, as well as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. For a multi-unit building I take into account the number of units and the number of heating systems.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a B.S degree in civil engineering (structural option) from WPI in Worcester, MA. I was trained in home inspection techniques by one of the most experienced home inspectors in Western Massachusetts. I worked for him for 7 years and performed almost 1300 inspections. I was a licensed septic system installer for 25+ years.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had been a custom home builder for years until a business slow down hit. I found an opportunity to become a home inspector with one of the largest home inspection companies in Western Massachusetts. I trained with that company and soon was doing up to 3 inspections per day. Word started getting around among the real estate agents that "I knew what I was doing". They began asking for me by name. Some agents began calling me the "house doctor". One agent even called me the "house surgeon". I would spot structural issues that other inspectors would miss. Now I am doing inspections on my own.
