FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Insurance is not covered. I get paid by check or cash at the end of every session. My fee is for a full hour and does not increase no matter whether for an individual, a couple, or a family.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We discuss what issues the client wants help with, how long they have had the issues, and whether they got professional help in the past. I then give feedback and constructive solutions, with an emphasis on teaching effective communication. For couples, having them hear each other and respond is crucial. All clients learn to be more aware of their feelings, which are often based on irrational ideas. The end of the session involves my requesting the clients practice at home whatever the learned skill is from the current session. Whether they made progress or not at home gets discussed at the beginning of the next session.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's degree in Counseling and attended many related workshops and lectures, as well as giving them. I have read many related self-help books, and then written my own on Anger Management and on Compulsive Eating.
