- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Growing up I was always organized, very neat and enjoyed decorating. I would help friends and family organize rooms in their homes and after hearing from so many of these people that I should start a business I did! I studied with an interior decorator/stager for a year, took many classes and became an accredited stager. Organizing became a natural off shoot of the staging/decorating training.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common type of job that I help a client with is room organizing. Whether it be a closet, cabinet or the whole room we decide together what stays in the home, gets thrown out, sold on the internet, at a consignment shop or donated to a local charity.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I was recently involved in helping an elderly couple downsize and organize their condo. They're planning on moving to an assisted living/retirement facility and needed to get rid of years of possessions. I helped them sell things on the internet, donated many things to charity and pre-packed for their move. Seeing how pleased they were made me very happy and proud of the job.
