Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My studio is focused on the development of classical, flamenco & pick-style guitar technique, repertoire, music theory, ear training, improvisation and composition. All of these things are accomplished organically by learning repertoire you really love! I'm also interested in helping more advanced, composing students get published, either through DIY means or connecting you with resources that can help make it happen. I work with students in several ways. Through my website [TheFretBuzz], on Skype or in-person at my studio in Portland's East End. Hope to see you soon :)

I've been taking lessons from Greg for past few months and it has been a blast! I've rapidly improved my knowledge in music, sight reading, and overall skill in playing. The lessons are customized to fit my skill and understanding and he is always available for clarifications.

My son developed an interest in Flamenco guitar from his time in lessons with Greg when he was eleven. Although he was a beginner, Greg broke down songs into small sections that my son learned and then was able to string together. A year and a half later and my son is now able to play many beautiful Flamenco songs. He loves playing guitar and is becoming a more and more skilled player. Greg is excellent at relating to my son and getting him interested in the details of playing Flamenco. My son looks forward to his lessons and I can hear him frequently laughing with Greg as he learns. I feel very fortunate we found Greg as his teacher.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I first got excited about music because of how it made me feel. Chord progressions, melody, and interesting grooves on a drum kit or d'jembe always made me smile or laugh. Music is the one thing that allows people to communicate who don't speak each other's language. I created TheFretBuzz to allow people from all walks of life, cultures, abilities, and styles to communicate and come together to learn more about guitar.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I usually begin with a new student by evaluating their present day ability and determining what would be the best course to follow to become the most proficient in the areas that they want the growth and progress in.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find a studio that is represented by a passionate musician. Avoid "music mills" where the objective is throughput and volume rather than the quality of the instruction. Ask the teacher for credentials.. education & performance experience are a good place to start.
