Introduction: I have coached youth basketball both girls and boys from ages 9u through Varsity for 27 years. I am currently the Head Varsity coach at Sacred Heart Greenwich where I helped lead our team to the FAA Semifinals, Finals and Semifinals the past three years. I also coach the Lightning AAU 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams. My 8th grade team made it to the Final Four in the 2019 Div 1 AAU Nationals and finished third overall. I love coaching teams and winning games, but I am truly passionate about the skill development of each and every player. I pride myself on connecting with players individually and helping to push them to reach their potential - often beyond what they even imagined themselves capable. I have a ridiculous attention to detail and will help student athletes learn small adjustments that can make tremendous improvements in their game. If you're looking for a coach who will challenge you while keeping workouts fresh and enjoyable, contact me. As a varsity coach, I am certified in First Aid and CPR/AED administration. I am also a SportsSafe and USA Basketball licensed coach.
I prefer to tailor each session to the individual client. Ideally, I would start with an over-the-phone consult and hopefully film review before creating a workout plan for the student-athlete. A typical session would then address the areas of the game where I and the athlete feel improvement is needed. One area that I feel is often overlooked particularly in private training is defense. I do require each client to spend a minimum of 10 - 15 minutes improving their footwork, speed and agility and their general understanding of angles and position as it relates to defense. We utilize the Dr. Dish for most of our shooting drills, and I strongly emphasize that every shot, every move be executed at game speed. Too often athletes "go through the motions" and can dribble circles around cones all day, but then can't get by a simple live man - to - man defense and get off any shot with any sense of accuracy at game speed. Every drill we do is at game speed with some sort of pressure on the line because that is how the game is played.
All I ask is that you bring your game, your best work ethic, and a smile.
