The work ultimatly is a clean gutter, clean house from power washing or a clean roof. The difference is I take the time to do the work carefully and right. If there is a problem I document it with pictures and let the home owner know about it. If I quote a price after seeing the house or viewing it on line I stick with it even if it takes a lot more work. I know that customers do not want to be faced with a contractor that is always trying to up sell them. They want a good job done right. Being out side and meeting nice customers. l have worked on many houses and never even met them but just do the work and leave an invoice. They are happy and the house looks better when I am done. Or in the case of gutter cleaning the system works the way it should.

David Cox of Home Services CC thoroughly cleaned the gutters of my 2 family house of leaves and accumulated debris due to several years of neglected cleaning for the as quoted amount. I gave him my address and told him that Google Maps had a current image of my house and he was able to provide an accurate quote based on that info. He had the right equipment to reach and clean the hard to access upper porch gutters and cleaned-up the removed debris. He also reported the condition of the roof and siding shingles that were not visible to me from the ground. I will use this cleaning service again to clean the house gutters on a yearly schedule.

Dave's bid was in the middle of the pack but the service he provided went far beyond expectations. In addition to clearing the gutters, he made several repairs and stuck with a problematic one that wasn't part of the original plan. Mr. Cox came out the other day to clean our gutters. He was very responsive in setting up the appointment and when he came out, he was professional, approachable, and instilled a lot of confidence that he knows his stuff. Ours was a bigger job than he expected, and he would have been completely justified in charging more than he quoted, but he absolutely stood by his estimate. He took pictures on the roof, pointed out a problem area and suggested an inexpensive fix for it, and quoted a very fair price for whole-house power washing, which I requested. I will definitely hire him again.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For gutter cleaning the basic questions are square fottage of the house, style, if the house is over 3 stories and if there are gutter covers. This information combined with the address allows me to take a virtual tour of the house and give a commited price. For power washing I need to visit the house to foresee any special problems to be resolved. The same is true for roof cleaning they are projects that need to be looked at.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Some contractors use gutter cleaning as a way to meet a potential customer to sell them new gutters or gutter covers. I am a contractor that does gutter cleaning to provide a quality service not up sell to something else. With much of the system not being visible there is a high degree of trust in that the complete job is being done. Best way to tell is watching how the work progresses. Or find a contractor you trust and track if the clogs are clear fter the work is done. If there is a question I am happy to go back and or document it so the customer is happy.
