Introduction: We are architects who integrate client needs with their particular site and material pallet while keeping a close eye on the budget. Past clients have celebrated the outcome of their projects. Our team has designed and managed projects, ranging from small residential renovations, elementary and middle schools, university projects, to a skyscraper in New York City. We even have a fabrication shop to make furniture. We are very interested in how buildings carry meaning to a particular client. The focus of our recent work has been about the complex relationship of buildings and landscapes.

Several years ago Jeff Brown did a fantastic job designing the addition to our house in Bar Harbor. The house was built circa 1910, and it was a typical small cottage style, in-town home. Our goal was to increase it by 30%, including adding a new dormer, so that once the new shingles faded it would look as though it was always that way. Indeed, this is exactly how it turned out. We had many compliments from neighbors and passersby who knew the old house and were impressed by the addition, and even some from tourists who did not even know but just liked it. So, kudo's to Jeff - of course, he was just a kid then....

Jeff provided our family with a wonderful vision as to how to leave a legacy at the UConn Child Labs in memory of our granddaughter, Yssis. The structure he built allows children to engage with one another in a very unique way. The process we went through to come up with the design was as comforting and positive as the final result. Jeff's sensitivity and dedication to the project was also enhanced by his own children's enrollment at the Child Labs. We are happy to know that many children will enjoy this very innovative and delightful structure.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure they listen to you. A good architect will reach deeper to make an inspiring project specific to you. If you are not inspired by the project he/she has not done their job. If you love the land that you inhabit you will do what is necessary to preserve its essence, and implement a design that does not intrude upon the landscape.
