FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is nearly impossible to price a job without seeing it first. The materials selected by the client can weigh heavily on the price. Yes, it would probably be easier to price myself out at an hourly rate, but I would rather calculate the price of materials and estimate my hours of labor, up front, so the client is locked in to one price.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Most of the updated information regarding Home Improvements can be found on the Internet. When I take on a job that I don't do on a regular basis, I research the materials prior to starting to ensure that I am using the best, most up to date materials that are available on the market. I have been dealing with the owners of Wethersfield Building Supply and get most of my new product information from them.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Had a eye for it, definitely an inner drive to follow in Grampa's footsteps helped, too. It is an amazing trade, although a dying trade, where someone without college but with great work ethics and high standards can be very successful. I was lucky enough to have a master mason that was willing to take me under his wing and teach me the trade, soup to nuts.
