Introduction: Welcome to Guitar Star Instruction! I am Conservatory trained with 20 years of performing experience and over 35 years teaching 40 to 50 students a week. I am also a highly trained specialist in study skills so lessons are easy to understand, fast and fun! I teach all ages and have a great book and system I wrote for advanced players wishing to learn how to solo, improvise and write songs! Plus we'll learn your favorite songs right off YouTube. I have been playing guitar for almost 12 years, I was considering lessons for awhile and I wish I started with Guitar Star years ago. In only a few months I feel more confident in my playing and have a renewed interest in playing guitar. I'm excited to keep getting these lessons and learning as much as I can. Very knowledgable and patient instructor. Teaches using music types and styles my 8 year old son is interested in. Also creative in the way he works to individually cater teaching methods in order to encourage success in learning guitar, and keep the student genuinely interested

I am a 47 year old man that picked up guitar with no musical experience at the age of 45. I have been going to lessons weekly with Pete for almost two years. I look forward to the lessons and I like them not only because I am progressing and seeing improvement but also because I think Pete is a great guy and I enjoy the discussion and back and forth banter that rounds out the lesson. Pete is following a course of instruction with me that uses Hal Leonard's books so you are building skills in a reasonable and complete way. Pete is clearly a talented guitarist and can pick up and help you with about any song you bring in or mention in class to supplement the book practice and to keep guitar interesting. Finally, when I was taking lessons at a local music store before I started with Pete, the instructor and I were shoved into what felt like a small hot closet for the lesson. I like going to Pete's house much better because his practice room is large and comfortable and he actually manages the climate to be comfortable for the student.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I assess what the student may already know about the instrument, general music knowledge and if they play another instrument. Then we talk about what they want to learn - musical styles , artists, specific songs, etc. The we work our a program to best achieve those aims
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Hartford Conservatory, played professionally for years, also studied several extensive courses in Study. Learning and Teaching Skills. Then there's the thousands of hours spent learning songs and teaching a few thousand students for over 37 years!
