FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up dancing at this ballet studio. After leaving the studio to go to college for a music degree and later graduate school for a masters in teaching and performing, I was honored when the opportunity presented itself for me to come back to the school as the owner and artistic director. Dancing at this school taught me discipline, the importance of striving for excellence in everything, and the importance of finding ways to use my unique talents to give back to my community. I see this work as both being able to fulfill those personal goals for my life as well as being able to teach others to find that for theirs as well.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Through the rigorous ballet program, students at NCCB acquire strength, precision, lyricism, and musicianship as well as poise, posture, expression, and discipline that carry over into other aspects of their lives, including educational and professional careers. It is the studios goal to equip its young people with not only heightened personal motivation and love of excellence but also the distinct desire to bring enrichment, beauty, healing, and love back to their community through the values learned in the studio with their peers.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The customer must decide if they want a dance school focused on competitive performance or community performance. Emphasis at this school is placed on students working not at the individual level but rather together as a team to push themselves and their performance to the highest level of excellence and artistic beauty. The ballet company within the school is called "Malenkee Ballet Repertoire Company" - this company is made up of the most elite dancers at the school who serve both as the leaders of the school and also perform at schools, nursing homes, and other venues in the Newtown Community throughout the school season.
