My work is a blend between professional dog training, applied animal behavior and K-9 Aggression Specialty. I offer a one-stop shop. We board and train, board or house-sit only for our customer base to keep everyone's success that is achieved with our award winning courses. I train ANY BREED at ANY AGE, results GUARANTEED!! I love taking on a dog with a long list of problems, even severe problems, from owners who have lost hope of keeping their dog at all, and then presenting to the owners, in some cases in minutes, a new dog who listens and obeys even in public places where we do our work. We love helping families who are in tears, in stress, ready to give their dog up because other training did not work. We have only worked with Rick for a very short a mount of time and in that time have seen a tremendous difference in our dog. He used to jump all over people and whine and pull when seeing other dogs out of excitement but now he is calm and collected. He still needs a lot of practice and work to get to our end goal of him being a service dog but I am confident that Rick can help us accomplish this task. Thank you so much rick. I would 100% recommend Empire State K-9 training for any of your doggy needs!

Rick is definitely the best dog trainer around! My husband and I rescued our dog Bear and realized pretty soon after he did not get along well with other dogs. We live in a very dog friendly complex, and going on walks with Bear was a chore. Every time we saw a dog, we had to turn around and go the opposite direction, or Bear would bark and lunge aggressively toward the other dog. For initial training, Bear stayed with Rick for about four days. I was stunned when I received a video from Rick of Bear with another dog, not paying the other dog any mind. We had three other classes with Rick, where we learned techniques on how handling him around other dogs, and other training tips. Our last class we were able to take Bear to Rick’s and just get him socialized to other dogs. Thanks to Rick, Bear is so well behaved and we can enjoy our walks and not worry about other dogs! Rick is truly a miracle worker!!! Thank you so much Rick!!

Rick is great, person to person, and dog to dog. My Jack Russell is only partway through his training, but he is doing great so far and Rick wrote and said he really likes Coop.

There is about 48 hours until trainer Rick from Empire K-9 picks up 17 week-old female Weimaraner named Charlie for one full week who is constantly trying to outwit me in every way she can, ever day, thwarting discipline and proper training. Problem is that Charlie is a super bright puppy. Charlie will be away from Manhattan to her temporary training residence in Stamford, Ct. Anita the manager is cool as I am a nervous dad. I fired a female trainer after 4 visits who was using a clicker and pumping Charlie with fattening tasty morsels. Empire K-9 utilizes behaiourism and gets into the dog's mind and not the stomach with senseless bribes that are not lasting and go nowhere. Anita promises to send me videos of Charlie in boot camp. Can't wait! , Stay tuned.

Our pricing structure is based on age, breed, size, risk level, & temperament of your dog. We do offer military discounts.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Working with dogs has been a passion since my childhood. Out of my 8 siblings, dogs were always drawn to me and I to them. After college, I decided to pursue training full time as my career and have never looked back. Now 40 years later, I have an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling career.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Our most common job is training that out-of-control, unruly family dog. Chewing, barking, housebreaking, jumping, digging, biting and fighting. Anything is remedied if trained with Empire State K-9 Training. I am also an aggression specialist so we handle any aggressive dog even those that other trainers have refused to train. ANY AGE - ANY BREED - RESULTS GUARANTEED!
