About

I not only have several years of classical voice training, but I am also a classically trained ballerina of 16 years and currently own/direct the Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet. I incorporate the movement techniques from my ballet training into the vocal studio to further students vocal skills at a more rapid rate than most vocal training accomplishes. This method incorporates all four learning methods - visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile - to achieve the most well-rounded and retained instruction. I love watching students grow in not only their skills but also their confidence as musicians. I am a vocal performer myself, but it is wonderful to not only be able to use my gifts to bless other people but also to impart them to others so that they can go out and do the same. And their being able to do so teaches them about life and the values in life more than in a musical sense alone.

I chose Tory because of how she came off in her profile. She seemed very professional for somebody as young as she was, and so I figured I would give her a try. From the very first lesson I knew my learning experience would be different. Tory has such a unique style to her teaching, which not only involves the vocal aspect, but learning how to use your body as a whole to improve your voice, and she always tries her best to have take something out of each lesson. She is a true educator. I leave every lesson feeling like I have gained something. Tory isn't just a teacher she is somebody I'm proud to call my friend now. After working with so many teachers in the past that made me feel like I wasn't anything special, I'm so thankful to have found Tory who teaches me to believe in myself more each time I sing for her. If you are looking for a refreshing way to improve your voice, Tory is it. You have to call her!

My daughter had a wonderful first lesson with Tory. This was her first private voice lesson and Tory was very sweet and easy to follow. My daughter is looking forward to continuing voice lessons with Tory!!

Tory is a very accomplished, talented, kind and caring teacher. She stresses good technique and works hard to help the student understand and find the path. She believes voice work should also be fun [hooray!] and is open to helping students sing pieces that interest them. I'm an adult novice and have been with her, happliy, for about 6 months. She is my 3rd voice teacher in a short time but this one is sticking! Finding a good match is important. Sometimes family and sweet dogs passing through the room presents a break in concentration. If you like dogs [and I do!] they will hang out and listen to your lesson - but they are not judgmental lol!

What types of customers have you worked with?
I train middle and high school students who are involved musically in school. I work as a vocal coach for those activities as well as work separately in the classical and Broadway repertoire to prepare them vocally and musically for future vocal endeavors. The other category I often find myself teaching is adults who are now in a place in their life to pursue vocal training previously not attainable - adults who are looking to further an avocational love for singing and maybe make it a little more than that.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that you get a vocal professional with a degree in voice and with much past experience and recommendation from others. There are a lot of vocal professionals out there, but you want to hire the best because you only ever have one voice, and you not only want to make sure that what you're paying for is bettering it but you also want to make sure that you can comfortably establish trust between you and your teacher, KNOWING that they are not in any way damaging your voice.
