Introduction: I have extensive experience in the drywall field. Many folks feel that this is something that can be done on their own. Most things can be done however the taping (drywall finishing) needs to be done properly otherwise its something your looking at day in day out. I love the before and after. One thing I would like to add, drywall as you know is a dusty endeavor and it takes quite a lot of effort to control the dust. I recently purchased a festool drywall sander. It is hands down the best sander on the market both in quality of sanding and most importantly dust control. I can easily say is controls 95% of the dust that is created when sanding drywall. Another task that it makes much easier and cleaner is the dreaded removal of POPCORN CEILINGS!! Since August 2018 I've tried to find someone to install two exterior door slabs. Should be easy, right? Well, it wasn't. I contacted five vendors for quotes and was told that it "just can't be done" ... that I'd need to throw out the new slabs and start over with custom-sized pre-hung doors. Verbal estimates for the labor alone were over $900 per door because the jamb, threshold, storm door and siding would need to be removed and replaced. And I wouldn't be able to re-use the old storm doors, so there's that cost too. What a nightmare!! Then I met Mike of JTC Interiors! Mike stopped by, took a look, said "Yes, the slabs can be installed", and gave me a reasonable, affordable, "all in" quote. Mike is pleasant and easy to work with, kept me informed each step of the way, and began & completed the project within days. He has a "can do" approach and provided thoughtful guidance and solutions for the issues that popped up (it's an old house). The doors look great, the fit is excellent and they open & close smoothly. Mike left the work area in excellent condition. I highly recommend Mike to all who use Thumbtack, as well as my neighbors and friends and I will call Mike whenever I have other projects. I needed to have a 100 year old pocket door fixed, and it took me about a month to get back to Mike. And when I finally got back to Mike, I needed it done ASAP. Mike came out the same day and figured out a fast, easy and permanant fix - without having to damage walls. He also gave me a few tips on the Reno I as doing. I will consider Mike for larger projects in the future.

Mike did a fantastic job patching my ceilings after some water damage in the bad tape job over the shower some years ago. His repairs were so good, you could not even tell where the repair began and ended. Other vendors tried to tell me that we had to spray the entire popcorn ceiling again in order to make it look good but my did it at a fraction of the cost of doing the whole ceiling. While Mike was at the house he also noticed some rather poor speculating jobs that I had attempted some years ago and he offered to clean them up at no charge. After he was done, I couldn't believe the difference. I liked his work so much that I hired him to do some additional painting in the house as well and that looked great too! I would definitely hire mike again for any drywall or ceiling repairs.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Well pricing is difficult at times, especially the smaller jobs. Each job is unique and have their own set of hidden issues that aren't always obvious. So lets talk about your project so we can give you a fair price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to simply talk to my new customers. Not necessarily about the job at hand at least at first. I have to remember that I am working in these folks homes. They HAVE to trust me, at least as much as they can meeting me for the first time. The people I work for don't necessarily have to be clients only, they can be friends also. The trust that is developed puts everyone at ease as time goes on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
There isn't a university of drywall yet (as far as I know). I was trained though by a friend of mine that truly took pride in his work. I was taught to do it right the first time, I will get faster as time goes on. I have also worked on extremely high end projects which kept you at the top of your game. One residential project was almost 60,000 sq ft. THAT'S RIGHT A HOME, 60,000 SQ FT.
