- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Growing up in a family that owned an Interior Design Firm I knew at an early age that Interior Design was something I loved and wanted to pursue. After graduating from the Seattle Art Institute in 1999 I gained invaluable hands on experience renovating and flipping real estate in West Seattle. In 2004 my husband was transferred to the East Coast. I saw this as another opportunity to grow in my profession. After freelancing for several Manhattan based Designers I started Kenzie & Cline Design in 2014.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have recently finished a Master Bed and Bath. The bathroom was broken into two dysfunctional rooms and had a hall closet parallel and adjacent to the tub. I immediately thought to open both rooms including the hall closet. A cramped, outdated tub soon became a 7' x 4' walk in shower. When the bathroom was complete we began updating the bedroom and halls throughout the house. New doors, baseboard and moulding were added throughout the house. Old vintage wallpaper was removed and walls were painted to match the bed and bath. The project took two months. It's always a challenge to bring any renovation to fruition. But the end result is such a reward and always worth the effort involved.
