FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Rates are posted on my website and confirmed before I start, never after: quick remote fix $75 flat (up to 45 min), in-home visit $125/hour (1-hour minimum, 15-minute increments after), new computer setup $199 flat, Wi-Fi/mesh setup $179 flat, smart doorbell or camera install $149 (single device), tech tutoring $99/session or a 5-pack for $449, and the Tech Neighbor monthly plan $99/month. The 15-minute phone consult is always free. No trip charge within 10 miles of Stamford, no rush fees, no deposits. If a job turns out smaller than expected, I charge you less, not more. I take Zelle, Venmo, check, or cash at the end of the visit.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Three steps, no surprises. 1) Call or text and tell me what's going on in plain language. I'll let you know if I can help and roughly what it will take. 2) I come to you, or we connect by screen-share if it doesn't need me in the room. You pick. 3) I leave you with a working setup, a short written summary of what was wrong, and a free follow-up if the same problem comes back within a week.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I spent years teaching high school biology (AP Biology and Human Anatomy & Physiology). The part of the job I was best at was sitting with someone who felt stuck and walking them through it until it clicked, and that's exactly what good tech help needs. I'm honest about scope: if a job needs an electrician or a manufacturer repair, I'll tell you straight.
