Introduction: I am a multi-certified Personal Trainer; older than most people in my industry. I have been around to see exercise fads come and go. I have seen what works and what doesn't. I have the experience that helps me to truly understand the individual needs of my clients and I surely understand the needs of the 'older but wiser' crowd, [as well as the somewhat younger and wise crowd. LOL] I am a 68-year-old mobile trainer who travels to her clients' homes and works them out with a gym-quality workout. Why go to the gym when the gym can come to you? No need to wander through a maze of machines that are totally foreign, in a setting that can be extremely intimidating. I will be right there by your side, showing you how to perform each exercise properly, within the comfort of your own surroundings. I am a trainer who completely understands the constraints of aging without using them as a crutch. My job is to work within the parameter of your unique abilities and then take you a tiny step out of that comfort zone. My Master's in Counseling gives me an advantage uncommon to most trainers. Although it is uncommon in my field, it has been a positive addition in working through self-esteem, body image issues, eating disorders, self-imposed restraints, and the myth that you're too old and it's too late. This is your journey. I will not compare your abilities to anyone else's, nor should you. We are all unique and this is not a competition. [unless it's a friendly one in a group setting. Those are actually quite fun]. I will be your ally, cheerleader, nutritional coach, motivator, and if need be, a royal pain in your butt. Together we are a team working to make your goal, your reality. For me, this isn't about looking like a supermodel. It's about being the best that YOU can be. It isn't about wanting to be 20 all over again, but accepting where you are now and making yourself the best 'now' possible. Weight loss and muscle mass are the icings on this cake, so to speak. Health is my focus, while toning, weight loss, and sculpted muscles are all a 'natural side effect' of the health goal. So if your main focus is to look great in a bikini, I'm not the trainer for you. If you are looking to be as fit and healthy as you can be, then I'm your girl! I promise I won't let you fail. Your goal towards being the best you can be is my goal as well. EXCITING NEWS!!!! IN PERSON and/or VIRTUAL training (WITHIN The STATE OF CONNECTICUT ONLY.) Using your body and some creativity, we can attain the same quality workouts [if not better] as you would get at the gym. 30 and 45-minute sessions are available ONLY through online sessions. whereas in-person sessions are always 60 minutes. You choose the amount of time that works for you, plus the frequency of your workouts. The more people who join you, the less it will cost per person. ( this also applies to in-person 60-minute sessions). Enjoy VIRTUAL classes together with your friend (s), or family from your own home, workplace, or wherever you feel works best for you. With the addition of remote training, working out is easier and more convenient than ever. Prices start as low as 15 dollars per person [based on a 30 minute, virtual session with 5 people]. Give me a call for more details. You will get NO sales pitch from me. I believe people who choose to hire a trainer need to do so through their own choice, not by intimidation. I look forward to hearing from you! To your health, Lisa

Personal Training

Lisa is amazing. I’ve had several trainers over the years—all good but none like Lisa. She knows how to read your abilities and pushes just enough so you feel like you’ve accomplished something. What would normally be 60 minutes of pain and suffering flies by with Lisa. She leaves you wanting to do more. My only hesitation in writing this is that I don’t want too many people to find out how great a trainer she is! If you are at that stage in life where you need to do something to make sure you’re around for awhile, see Lisa

Personal Training

I am a Medical Professional who recently retired and moved to the area. I knew I had to do something to keep myself healthy so started looking for a Personal Trainer. I hired Lisa in early December 2016 and I am about to sign on for my third set of eight sessions. Lisa has taken me from my starting point and gently guided me well beyond that point. She changes things up to keep it interesting. She is always encouraging and supportive. She is purposeful in her plan as she builds foundational strength for skill advancement. AND she makes it fun. I have appreciated increase strength (in arms, legs and core), increase balance and increase endurance. I have only positive to say about Lisa. She is the consummate Professional............punctual, flexible, knowledgeable and extremely skillful. Without hesitation I recommend Lisa as a Personal Trainer.

Personal Training

Lisa is a fantastic trainer. Not only is she very professional, she is knowledgeable and very compassionate. Lisa works with my mother who has Parkinson’s disease. She helps my mother stay mobile and makes her laugh. My mother loves training with her. It makes me feel so good to hear my mother tell me that she had a great exercise session and to know that she is feeling happy and more confident in herself. Lisa is a wonderful trainer and a very caring person. We are blessed to have found her for my mother. I highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for a highly qualified, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate trainer.

Personal Training

Lisa is fabulous. I had been looking to find someone who could help my father do some stretching and get into an exercise routine, something he had not done consistently in many many years, and a fall prompted him to finally say yes he would do it. Lisa initially turned me away, rightly saying that he needed to visit a physio therapist first to discuss how to proceed. I respect her honestly and professionalism in doing so. Once he did have a "prescription" for exercises from a physio therapist, she agreed to work with him and has been wonderful, helping to keep motivated and working with him in holistic way. She is patient but also knows when and how to give him a push and he is even having fun doing it! Thank you Lisa!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I have rates for individual training sessions and groups of two-five people. The more people in the group, the less the cost of training per person. It's an ideal situation for everyone and it's really a blast!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

There is no typical process. Every person is unique. Every one has different needs, goals and abilities. What works for one person might not work for another. My job is to ease each client into the process that is right for them; one that will get them the results they want with a mix of fun and a bit of a challenge. I do meet with all perspective clients and do a free evaluation to see where their strengths and weaknesses might be and then discuss a 'plan of attack'. This helps both myself and the potential client to get a feel for one another. This is more than a casual business arrangement; it becomes a relationship. If I am going to ask you to step out of your comfort zone, even if only a tiny bit, you need to trust me. It's a big step for some and I do understand that

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an NASM graduate, which is one of the top three PT certifications in the U.S. I also hold a Senior Trainer And an Advance Trainer certification from ASFA.I believe continuing education is a must, so I also hold a certification from FAI in Functional Aging which concentrates on 'The Baby Boomer Generation'. I am also a member in good standing of ASCM. I am certified in Sports Nutrition. I am also TRX trained/certified and of course CPR/AED certified. I have also been named Best of The Best by Thumbtack for two years in a row, including Number 1 Personal Trainer in New Haven County based on my reviews from satisfied clients.
