Introduction: We believe our 25 years in piano restoration and refinishing gives us a pretty unique perspective on how to safely move these valuable instruments. The right experience, technique, equipment, and regard for your piano and property are what it takes! You can also look up River Valley Piano Service to like our page, and see some of our recent restoration projects. We hope you find it interesting! Whether it's overcoming challenging obstacles in a unique piano move, returning a family heirloom to its original place of distinction, we enjoy all areas of piano service. Note: We like to provide you with a quote...not just a “guesstimate”. To that end if you’re able to include pick up and delivery towns, info on stairs, and height/length of the piano in the “notes”, we’ll be able to serve you better in that regard. If we “decline” a job, it may just mean we need a bit more info... Alternatively, feel free to simply fill out the form on our company website, or even visit our Piano Restoration Center in Vernon, CT. We’d be happy to go over your job with you! (just call ahead to make sure we’re not on the road) Thanks! Rich Lindahl-Owner River Valley Piano Service 101 Industrial Park Rd unit B Vernon, CT

Piano Moving

We had Rich moving piano for us today. He's a professional piano mover. We recommend Rich because of his professionalism, very quick to respond any questions, punctuality, and best of all his work quality. You can't go wrong with him. He is the guy you're looking for.

Piano Moving

Highly recommend! Rich and Co. picked up and delivered a piano to me. He was responsive, prompt and honest. Price very competitive (slightly lower than a second quote I received). Hopefully won’t have to move this piano again, but if I needed to I would definitely choose these guys again.

Piano Moving

We moved my mother's piano from Storrs to Middletown. The driveway in Storrs is a beast, but that did not phase them at all. They were professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about both the move of the piano and the piano itself. Even with some somewhat rough terrain to traverse, at no time was I worried in the least about the piano. If anyone needs a piano moved, these are the guys to do it. They were the middle bid of the ones I received, and I'm very glad I choose them for this move. Five stars, and anyone I know who needs a piano moved, will be directed by me to River Valley.

Piano Moving

A complicated move with two pianos from two different places, going to two different places. They were true professionals and made it a worry-free experience.

Piano Moving

They were right on time, very pleasant, and did a smooth, efficient job of moving my piano. The price was very competitive. I was able to get this done during a lunch break!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I try when practical, to use a base formula that uses the size and type of piano, nature of the move, plus an hourly figure. That said, often the formula isn't the best option. For instance, I'm based in Vernon, CT. If I use strictly the formula to price out a move in Waterbury, the price is going to be pretty high.. However, if the parties involved have a little flexibility with their timeframes, we can often set up a day where we're in a certain part of the state, and everyone saves.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Once we have the basic details, (type of piano, pick up and delivery towns, stairs, time frame, etc) we can give an accurate quote, and come up with a delivery day/time that works. I strongly believe in good communication, so expect a confirmation call, text or email, the day before. We also like to call when we're about 1/2 hour out, just to give you a heads up. While unexpected traffic, and the occasional need 'go the extra mile' to make sure a move is completed safely, are part of the business, our customers are typically pretty impressed with how accurate our time estimates are. If something does change---you will know as soon as we do. We understand there's nothing more frustrating than standing around wondering when your movers will arrive!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In addition to piano moving, I'm a second generation piano craftsman, specializing in the complete restoration and refinishing of antique pianos. The tools and techniques I use for moving, are often derived from being one of the 'go-to' people for piano repairs.
