We recently hired Leo from LR Finish Carpentry to complete a challenging stair project in a 70-year-old home we just bought and are renovating. We decided to open the walls on the narrow staircase so more light could pass through the main floor —we took walls down and were left with a floating staircase in the middle of the entryway with no sides or base. It was a tricky situation, and I had three different companies come out to look at it.
From the first visit, Leo stood out as the most detailed and knowledgeable by far. He walked through the space, pointed out numerous things I needed to consider, offered creative ideas, and even told me exactly what materials I would need if I chose to buy them myself. He was incredibly patient and sat with me at the computer to make sure I fully understood the requirements—whether I hired him or not. His goal was clearly to protect me from anyone trying to take advantage. That level of honesty and transparency immediately earned my trust.
When the quotes came back, Leo’s pricing was significantly better than the other two companies (which were far more expensive). I decided to order the materials myself to try to save a little more, but that ended up causing multiple delivery delays. Leo was extremely patient throughout, checking in every few days without any pressure. Once everything finally arrived, he came out and completed the entire staircase installation in just one day.
Leo’s attention to detail is exceptional. Given the age of the house, measurements were a real challenge. He noticed that the base of the walls we had taken down were off by about 5/16 of an inch, which meant the balusters wouldn’t appear perfectly in line from every angle. As someone who is hyper-detailed (a pain in the ass, frankly), I never would have noticed it and even after he explained it I still can’t notice it - as he is a master with measurements. His craftsmanship on the handrail, especially the incredible mitering work, is absolutely jaw-dropping. He was meticulous, suggested smart adjustments to ensure everything would pass code inspections without issues, and he knows the building code inside and out.
The finished stairs exceed my expectations in every way. The quality is outstanding, and everyone who sees them comments on how beautiful the craftsmanship is.
I highly recommend LR Finish Carpentry and Leo specifically. If you want quality work from someone honest, skilled, and truly professional, look no further.

We had engaged Leonardo to do squeaky stairsrepair, he communicated professionally and learnt that he had sone ankle problem but I choose to wait for him to look at the job get me the quote . He showed up one day and made me understand the issues and gave me a reasonable price. We had the deal and he fixed it in few hours and now no more squeaks. I appreciate his work and recommend him for your upcoming projects.
I asked for someone on Nextdoor to give an estimate to install a Handrail, Newel Post and Balusters. Leonardo responded right away, came to my home, gave a great price and came in a few days to install. He did an amazing job, was very clean and I now have a beautiful stair rail after four years of struggling. I can’t recommend him high enough!

I hired Leo to install my stairs, and I couldn’t be happier with his work! He showed up exactly when he said he would and completed the entire job in just one day. The finished stairs look beautiful, and I’m extremely pleased with the results.
